The future of the Italian based broadband service provider, Tiscali, is in the doldrums, as it has not been able to clear pending debts with its lenders. As a result, the company’s broadband customers, including 1.8 million people in the UK, may not be able to continue with their connection in the near future.

Customers have already started facing problems with Tiscali’s services. Earlier, customers who had their email accounts on Tiscali’s screaming.net domain had their accounts frozen after the provider did not renew the domain. The company later restored the service, providing relief to many customers who could have ended up losing important data.

A Tiscali representative has confirmed that the provider has prepared a proposal to clear its debts, ready to be presented at the next shareholders’ meeting, and that the company will continue to operate as usual both in Italy and the UK. O2 and Vodafone, two very important players in the UK mobile broadband market are all set to join forces. It has been reported that the two companies are considering a network sharing deal that will improve their coverage and will lower their operating costs.
